Will Davis made the cover 30 years ago for winning the Oklahoma
City Mile... Jean-Michel Bayle won the final round of the AMA 250cc
Motocross National Championship at Kenworthy's MX in Troy, Ohio.
Bayle's Honda teammate Jeff Stanton wrapped up the title. Jeff
Emig won the 125cc class... The U.S. Team of Greg Hancock, Sam
Ermolenko and Ronnie Correy won the World Championship Pairs
Final in Italy. It was the U.S.'s first
speedway title since 1982... Wayne
Rainey won the 500cc Grand Prix
in Magny Cours, France.
Our Ducati 999 test bike was featured on the cover of Cycle News
20 years ago... We also rode the all-new 2003 Kawasaki KX250
motocrosser... Ricky Carmichael kept his perfect season alive by
winning both 250cc motos at Unadilla... Valentino Rossi won the
German Grand Prix ahead of Max Biaggi... The Cycle News staff
toured Southern California on the latest crop of adventure test bikes,
which included the Aprilia ETV 1000 Capo Nord, BMW R1150GS ABS,
KTM 640 LC4 Adventure, Triumph Tiger 955i, and Suzuki DL1000
V-Strom.
