Sexton and Eli Tomac are upping
the ante each weekend. In the
past few rounds, they've elevated
their game to a level that only
the two of them can compete at.
This 35-minute chess match cre-
ated another exciting weekend
of racing for fans. Washougal
marked the first round of the
series in which Tomac held the
red plate, and he looked to build
on his seven-moto win streak.
But Sexton had other plans, like
reclaiming the points lead he
held for the first seven rounds.
The two rivals went at it all day,
riding wheel to wheel for nearly
an hour of racing and obliterating

Ryan Dungey had the holeshot in moto
one and held a podium posi on un l a
mechanical failure ended his race. "We
had a great week and made some good
progress with the bike, which was really
posi ve and it really translated today. I
got the start in the first moto and, man,
it was nice running up there with Chase
and Eli! We had a li le bit of a bike
malfunc on—you know, it's dirt bikes—it
happens and it's nobody's fault. Second
moto, my gate pick was terrible but I tried
to salvage a decent start. The good thing
was that I felt really good and the bike
was really working, so I could apply my-
self on the track and start picking those
people off. I got up to fourth and I made
a run on third but just ran out of me. It's
not where we want to be overall but a
posi ve moving forward is that we're in
a good spot with the bike and the riding
was good, so we'll take it."
