Hunter Lawrence's day
looked to be his first overall win
of the season, but the Honda
rider was forced to settle for
third overall. He gave Jett a run
for his money in moto one and
led until the final few stages
before lappers derailed his
train. Hunter still finished 0.5
seconds back and looked to
reached halfway. Shimoda is
still third in points but is only 18
down from Hunter Lawrence's
second place.
"Starting 20th is not helping
me at all," Shimoda said. "Ev-
ery first moto, I'm just wasting
too much energy, and I don't
have the clear air. If we want
to fight for wins, I need to have
consistent starts, and that will
be helpful. In that second moto,
I actually used starting blocks
The RedBud winner put on an
outstanding charge in moto one,
passing Max Vohland on the final
lap to grab the final podium spot.
Another all-out battle in moto
two saw Shimoda locked in with
Justin Cooper. The two went at it
for most of the moto, but Shi-
moda got the better of Cooper
and upped his first-moto score.
His mid-race charge reminded
everyone of Tomac as he fought
through the pack once the clock
