ROUND 9 / JULY 16, 2022 PORT ROYAL SPEEDWAY / PORT ROYAL, PENNSYLVANIA P84 FLAT TRACK I PROGRESSIVE AMERICAN FLAT TRACK AFT SINGLES The Parts Unlimited AFT Singles class built its reputation on unpredictable action and unfore- seen results, with winners, new and old, equally likely to emerge on any given weekend. It'll almost certainly reclaim that distinction soon enough, but it's a different story for now. And Kody Kopp is that story, collecting his fourth consecutive lights-to-flag victory to conclude yet another day of outright domination. In fact, the Red Bull KTM Fac- tory Racing star could go on va- cation, skip the next two rounds, and remain assured of retaining the championship lead no mat- ter what anyone else managed in his absence. Instead, he'll likely look to make history as he stands just two wins short of Dal- las Daniels' class single-season wins record of eight. While Kopp never saw an opponent's wheel, his challeng- ers did at least keep him honest this time out, with Turner Racing Honda's Dalton Gauthier leading a four-rider train in pursuit. Gauthier repeatedly chipped away a tenth or two off, only to see Kopp reassemble an advantage that stayed between a half-second and a second pretty much the entire distance. Kopp's teammate, Max Whale, finished third as he continues to work his way back into form after missing time due to injury, while Gauthier's rookie teammate, Chase Saathoff finished a close fourth. took fifth, with Mission Produc- tion Twins Challengers Jesse Janisch and Dan Bromley sixth and seventh, respectively. Bob Lanphere's BMC Racing's Davis Fisher, Rackley Racing/John Franklin's Robert Pearson, and Latus Motors Harley-Davidson's Bronson Bauman rounded out the top 10. season kicks off its second half. Fourth place went to third- ranked Daniels, who could use a big result to reassert his position as a genuine title con- tender. Fortunately for him, his home race and the scene of his maiden Progressive AFT win—the Peoria TT is up next. Behind Daniels, Robinson Kody Kopp won the Singles main for the fourth race in a row and the sixth of the season.
