Aaron Plessinger grabbed
the final spot on the podium
at Southwick, earning his best
finish of the 2022 season. AP
wasn't pegged as one to watch
early in the day after he qualified
19th, but a breakout ride in moto
two bumped him up in the overall
rankings. An up-front start slated
him in the mix with Roczen and
Tomac, and the number-seven
ran as high as second for most
of the race. It wasn't until the last
three laps that Sexton took the
spot away and forced Plessinger
to third. A 7-3 finish put him third
overall, giving Plessinger his first
podium since RedBud 2021.
"It's good to be back up here,"
Plessinger said. "I could hear
the fans every lap. It wasn't easy
there at the end. Hats off to
Chase and Eli. They were both
riding great. Third overall on a
KTM, it's a great, great day."

Jett Lawrence, like Tomac, also
had a dream day in the sands
of Southwick. He proved that
he will usually win as long as his
bike holds up. To give you an
idea of how fast Lawrence was,
