Dumas Dominates Calabogie CSBK
T
he Canadian Super-
bike Championship
visited Calabogie Motor-
sports Park, July 9-10,
where Alex Dumas put
himself right back into the
championship hunt after
winning both Saturday
and Sunday's races. Du-
mas is now just one point
down on championship
leader Ben Young.
Young started off the
weekend with the early
lead in Saturday's Su-
perbike race. The BMW
rider shot off the line and
led the pack through
the first five turns before
Dumas, on the Liqui Moly/Fast
School Suzuki, slipped past and
dropped the hammer.
Dumas went on to win with
Young taking second. "I didn't
get the best start, but I got a bet-
ter launch out of three and I was
able to outbrake Ben into five,"
Dumas said. "From there I just
tried to put in a bunch of good
laps and rode a really good race
to the end."
Kawasaki rider Sebastien
Tremblay was third, followed
by Samuel Guerin (BMW) and
Michael Leon (BMW).
In Sunday's race two, Young
got out in front early again, but
this time put up a good fight until
again giving away to Dumas at
the halfway point.
Dumas pulled away and went
on to take his second win of the
weekend.
"I tried the pass a few times,
but Ben just kept slamming the
door," said Dumas. "It was really
fun battling out there, but I'm
happy to pick up another win for
the championship."
"I had another great launch
like yesterday—the new 'M' BMW
gets off the line really well—but
Alex was a demon off the line as
well which allowed him to stay
with me," said the Van Dolder's
Home Team BMW rider. "I knew
it would be tough to win here,
but we're really looking forward
to round three where we can
hopefully build the gap back up
in the championship."
Trevor Daley, on the One-
Speed Suzuki, filled out Sun-
day's podium.
Tremblay was fourth and
Guerin fifth.
