ing to see the normally ever-
consistent rider running up front
with old rivals. He suffered a
severe foot injury just before the
Supercross season and is likely
still racing himself into shape.
Two relatively quiet motos for the
New York native notched 3-4 for
third, earning his second overall
podium this season.
"It's cool to be back on the
podium," Cooper said. "I always
love coming here. It always
beats my butt, and we always
come back for more. We made
progress today and are getting
closer to where we need to be,
so I'm happy but still have more
work to do."

"The track was really diffi-
cult," Shimoda said. "I've never
practiced in conditions like this.
I was just holding on so tight. I'm
happy, but we just have to keep
improving."
Justin Cooper looked to be
back on form as he locked down
third overall. In fact, he was the
only rider besides Jett to even
lead a lap. Cooper's starts were
