mentally I knew I could go fast,
and the boys made some great
changes to the bike. First moto,
I was running really well and had
a big crash that bent my bars,
so I just managed to bring it in
for eighth, which isn't ideal, but I
rode really well.
"Second moto, I got a great
holeshot and battled with the
boys, ending up P3 for third
overall. It was a wild—but awe-
some—day!"
Anderson was fast all day but
crashes again held him back.
"Minor crashes in each moto
cost me valuable time and posi-
tions early, so I felt like I was
playing catch up all day," Ander-
son said. "My speed was solid,
and the bike felt great, but a
couple of miscues are all it takes
to put the podium out of reach.
Overall, I made a lot of passes
out there."
250MX
It's been a Lawrence brother
summer for four consecutive
rounds, and Saturday looked to
be much more of the same. That
is until Jett Lawrence's engine
let go halfway through 250 moto
one, leaving him with a DNF.
Jo Shimoda had no sympathy
for the points leader, as he hunt-
ed down Hunter Lawrence and
eventually took the day's overall.
The "Jo Show" was in full
swing at RedBud as the Japa-
nese rider came out firing
early in the day. He clocked the
fastest time in qualifying, which
should've been a sign for the rest
of the field. Come moto one, the
Lawrences dropped the ham-
mer for their patented 35-minute
sprint moto. After Jett's mechani-
cal, Shimoda stayed with Hunter
before making a late-race pass
for the victory.
