VOLUME 59 ISSUE 26 JUNE 28, 2022 P87 five more often than not, looking for a way back into contention. His performance at Lima may have knocked down that door as he registered a virtuoso perfor- mance to win in style. Fast all day, Robinson swapped posi- tions with Bauman early in the main event before finally dis- patching him. He then tracked down an escaping Beach to take control of the race just over two minutes into the contest. Robinson's fitness and adapt- ability were further tested when he was reeled in and momentari- ly overtaken by Daniels with less than three minutes on the clock. In response, Robinson grit- ted his teeth, adjusted his line, and promptly reassembled his advantage to win by nearly four seconds in the end. Daniels picked up his fourth podium of the year in second, followed by defending champion and race promoter Mees, who pulled off a late pass on Bauman to round out the box. Robinson's triumph breathes new life into his '22 campaign, while Mees remains 36 points in front of him (139-103). The Mis- sion Roof Systems pilot is now within single-race striking dis- tance of second-ranked Daniels (24-point difference), Bauman (12) and Beach (9), with over half the season remaining. "It feels like forever since I've won, honestly," Robinson said. "Between everything that's happened with me physically and the recovery process, and continued struggles to bring his bike up to speed this year, Rob- inson came into Lima in desper- ate need of a good result. With two wins in each of the last three seasons and a third- place ranking a year ago, Robin- son had been the closest thing Progressive AFT had to a genuine challenger to the all-dominant Mees-Bauman duo. That was un- til the battleground was altered in 2022 and both rookie sensation Dallas Daniels and the gifted JD Beach emerged as race winners and championship contenders. Robinson, meanwhile, was frustrated to finish outside the top MYOWNRACE was in the frame and the first me I was on it. We were steadily making changes and made good progress throughout the day, but it's harsh showing up at a na onal with everything being brand new." 19 JAMES OTT 5TH SINGLES MediaHT/G&G Racing's James O enjoyed a solid ou ng at Lima, equaling his best result of the season in fi h. He said, "This was the best day I've ever had at Lima. We made the dash and started on the front row in the main. I just tried to get a good start and stay consistent. It was definitely a rough track at the end there. I feel like a ri on played into it and I tried to stay consistent and almost caught up to fourth place. I feel good. I was a li le red at the end but everybody was. Fi h place isn't bad. We want to do be er, but we'll take it. It's our best result thus far so I'm happy with it." 94 RYAN WELLS 6TH PRODUCTION TWINS Ryan Wells was looking for an opportu- nity following an amicable split with the Waters Autobody Racing ou it. He found it on the McGrane Racing Kawasaki 750 powered by Sco 's Powersports in the Mission Produc on Twins class. Wells SuperTwins rookie Dallas Daniels continued his strong run with a runner-up finish at Lima. He challenged Robinson for the lead late in the race but ultimately settled for second.
