Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max's
Ayumu Sasaki become a Moto3
race winner in a frantic finish at
Assen. Sasaki converted pole
position into victory on team
owner Max Biaggi's 51st birth-
day, although it was a triumph he
had to work hard for.
GasGas Aspar Team's Izan
Guevara led for the bulk of the
22-lap race around the TT Circuit
Assen and managed to finish
second despite being shuffled
as far back as fifth on the final
lap, while his teammate Sergio
Garcia held onto the World
Championship lead by beating
Tatsuki Suzuki (Leopard Rac-
ing) to the podium by just 0.007
seconds.
David Munoz (BOE Motors-
ports) took Jaume Masia (Red
Bull KTM Ajo) out as they battled
for the podium in the last half a
lap, with John McPhee (Steril-
garda Husqvarna Max) having
his own crash just behind them,
while Dennis Foggia (Leopard
Racing) had high-sided earlier
after fighting back from a long-
lap penalty.
In the championship, Garcia
holds the keys at 182 points,
three ahead of Guevara's 179.
Foggia lies third on 115.
MotoE
Dominique Aegerter (Dynavolt
Intact GP MotoE) and Eric Gra-
nado (LCR E-Team) shared the
wins in the latest round of the
MotoE World Cup at Assen.
Race one saw Aegerter take
a dramatic 0.081-second victory
over Granado with Mattia Casa-
dei completing the podium.
In race two, Granado was
rewarded for his bravery in
tricky conditions. The number
51 scythed his way from fourth
to the lead in just three laps in a
contest that would be cut short
due a red flag, with points leader
