ROUND 8 / MAY 27-29, 2022 MUGELLO / MUGELLO, ITALY P88 MOTOGP I FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP The coup de grace came with 15 laps to go, as Bagnaia swept into the lead into turn one, and that's all she wrote for the battle of the lead. Quartararo wasn't finished, however. The World Champion engaged first with Marini, then Bezzecchi, eventually pulling clear for second with 11 laps to go. Aleix Espargaro then fancied his chances of a podium, and the Spaniard disposed of both young Italians Bezzecchi and Marini for his fourth third place in a row. Bezzecchi would hang on for fifth after Zarco came past late in the race, Marini sixth, marking the best team result for the young Mooney VR46 camp. Rounding out the top 10 was Binder in seventh, Takaaki Na- kagami (LCR Honda) in eighth, Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM) in ninth and Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) in his final ride for some time in 10th. Bagnaia's win was a class act, but the same couldn't be said for Enea Bastianini, who crashed out on lap 13 to stay third in the series at 94 points as Quartararo extended his advantage over Espargaro, 122 to 114. Bagnaia's win puts him fourth at 81 with Zarco fifth at 75. (Below) Marco Bezzecchi leads Johann Zarco and Luca Marini. Zarco would get around by the finish for fourth.
