International Motorcycle Shows (IMS) Calls It Quits P rogressive IMS Out- dodors, owned and operated by Informa Mar- kets, has announced the suspension of its 2022 tour. The announcement came on the IMS homepage mo- torcycleshows.com, stating the following: "After 40 years of produc- ing The International Motor- cycle Shows and IMS Out- doors, we have made the difficult decision to suspend the IMS Tour in 2022. "The powersports industry is at a crossroads with where and how brands promote their products amidst the continued manu- facturing and sourcing delays associated with the pandemic. These current hurdles that our brand partners are facing would have made it difficult for us to produce an IMS that would meet your, and our, expectations. Therefore, we will not be moving forward with the planned 2022 events, including the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show. "We greatly appreciate your attendance and loyalty over the years and will miss sharing your love for motorcycling with you." The International Motorcycle Shows have historically provided a central tour for powersports manufacturers and aftermarket companies to showcase product and offer an interactive experi- ence to the public. IMS touted itself as an ideal entry point for prospective riders, hosting learn- to-ride demos for all ages, and stating that 44% of its attendees are either new or prospective riders. The IMS tour took a hit at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, which left the show struggling to find a way to continue amid health restrictions. Informa Markets came up with IMS Outdoors, which took the experience outside the convention centers and into parking lots, and even expanded to include side x side and ebike demos, but attendance suffered, leading to the ultimate cancelation of the tour. IMS Outdoors was set to kick off its 2022 circuit across the U.S., which was slated to include Colorado, Illinois, Penn- sylvania, New York, Georgia, Arizona and both Northern and Southern California stops be- tween June and November.
