Gaddis won the 125cc class on the same night. Mike Young styled to fourth place in the 250cc Pro class on the first night of racing. The finish-line jump had the top riders sailing up near the rafters of the small arena. A 1992 Yamaha YZ2S0 was also raffled off, courtesy of Yamaha Motor Corporation and Michael's Reno Yamaha-Suzuki. . Lewis was· the early favorite coming into the event, and started things off right by winning his heat race in Friday's 125cc class. In the IS-lap main event, however, a first-turn pileup put both Lewis and Gaddis in last place early on. Gaddis' Team Peak/Pro Circuit cohort, Mike Chamberlain, took advantage of the mishap to grab the lead, while Gaddis and Lewis took off after. the pack, putting on a show for the crowd as they picked off riders one at a time. Within a few laps, they had both moved by Chamberlain. The crowd was on its feet as Gaddis and Lewis slugged it out up front, with Lewis gaining the upper hand at the finish. Gaddis and Chamberlain rounded out the top three and Honda-mounted Kurt McMillen and Shawn Morgan placed fourth and fifth, respectively. In the 250cc main event, Lewis's victory came a little easier. He got a poor start and was in fourth place around turn one, but recovered and moved into the lead by the first jump. McMillen had a great ride going as he chased the leading Lewis in second place. Lewis scored the easy win ahead of McMillen, while Gaddis, who was slow.ed by lapped traffic, finished a few bike lengths behind in third place. Suzuki rider Mike Young and Pat Gomm filled out the top five positions. Inspired by the first evening of racing, well over 5000 anxious fans turned out for Saturday night's action. In the 125cc class, the dicing was not nearly as close as it· had been on Friday. Gaddis nabbed the holeshot and immediately pulled away to a comfortable lead. Riding smoothly at the head of the pack, Gaddis began styling over the jumps to keep the fans entertai"ned. Lewis charged hard, never more than a few bike lengths behind, but was unable to mount a serious challenge for the lead position. As the laps progressed, the front-runners began to encounter lapped traffic, but Gaddis was able to find his way through for the win. Lewis finished as the runner-up, and Chamberlain placed third. McMillen rode a consistent race for fourth place ahead of Morgan. The racing heat.ed up a little as Lewis, Chamberlain and Gaddis charged into the first tum in the 2S0cc race. The riders established a rapid pace early on, skying over the jumps and slamming through the rocker section. Lewis was leading, hoping to capture his third main event win of the weekend. Lewis slowly began to pull away, and it looked as though he had the win in the bag until he crashed in a sharp left-hander on lap 10. Gaddis quickly capitalized by moving into the lead, towing McMillen by the downed Lewis as well. Lewis remounted and took after the leading duo, catching McMillen on the final circuit. Lewis was able to pass McMilien for second place, but lapped riders hindered his progress, and time ran out before he could get around the leading Gaddis. Gaddis scored his second win of the night. Sunday brought out 170 amateur riders, ready to tryout their skills on the indoor supercross track. Though scaled down, the track still offered a challenge, and several of the professional riders stayed in town to put on an exhibition for the crowd.
