Posca pounces on LAeR MX win By Scott Hoffman 24 PALMDALE, CA, NOV. 15 Ito Posca rode to the winner's circle in the 80cc Beginner class, capturing both moto wins during the third round of California Racing Club's Sponsorship Series at Los Angeles County Raceway. Moto one action saw Larry Venema lead the riders through the first turn with Oscar Valdez and Posca trailing close behind. During the opening laps, ridersJ'ockeyed for position; Valdez took the lea , dropping Venema to second as Posca fell back to fourth when Levi Reed made his attack on the leaders. By the halfway point Reed had worked his way up to the second spot, with Valdez still clinging to his meager lead. Coming from the back of the pack was a hard-charging Jason Hill. Hill had started the race in the sixth spot and was slowly picking off riders one by one. Hill reeled in Posca and the two riders' baule sling-shoued them past the third-place rider, Venema. On the last lap the rough track look its toll on Reed, and he dropped back to seventh. Posca took advantage of the situation by taking second spot, and then grabbing the lead. At the finish it was Posca with the win, Valdez in second and Hill in third. Moto two was not as exciting as the first race, as Posca grabbed the early lead and ran away with the win. Bryce Thompson ran in the second spot throughout the race. Hill suffered from another poor start and had to work hard to take the third spot by the finish. The 250cc Pro race turned out to be a nightmare for many of the riders. Mike Dunlap grabbed the early lead with Bill Sauro in second and Troy Welty in third. On the third lap Welty went down hard, cartwheeling through the whoops. He was unhurt, but out of the race. Up front, Dunlap led with Todd Lehmann in second. The top. four riders battled hard the entire race unul a lapped rider got in the way and took out both Dunlap and Lehman, making it anyone's race. Tony Sulek led for one lap before Sauro passed him on the last lap for the win. In moto two, Dunlap again grabbed the early lead with Sauro in second. The riders held their positions for most of the race until bunlap lost concentration and started to fall back. Sauro took the lead spot with Sulek following close behind.
