... ~ had those mud bogs, and with the leaves and rain, it was difficult to read the trails and pick any kind of line. r had some problems just before second gas. I got stuck three times and I had to pull my goggles off a couple of times. Then I rode conservative. I had to finish." Suzuki's Jan Hrehor, who has been on a hot streak as of late, dropped 65 marks and finished seventh overall and said, "I was stuck a lot, and I fell down a lot. IL was not a good day for me." "IL was a good old-fashioned enduro," said IO-times ISDE gold medalist Jeff Fredette. "Cold, wet, tough and not too many finishers. I liked it. You've got to look at all this bad stuff as a positive. It's the same for everybody else and maybe everybody else isn't as used to Midwest weather like we are. They get all upset . and down in the dumps when it's raining like this." Fredette, on row 28, tied with Russell at 60 points, but lost the tie-breaker and finished fourth overall. "The machine ran okay," said Fredette, "but near the end, it was pulling down and making a strange noise. I still had about 10 miles to go, so I kind of lugged it instead of revving it. I didn't want to push back to the pits. KTM's Alan Gravitt scored sixth overall and said, "I hit the ground a few times in the afternoon. The bad part about hitting the ground in this kind of weather is you just keep on sliding. There were lots of leaves and stuff and it made it hard to ride the trails." KTM's Matt Stavish placed eighth overall. Sitting in his van after the run and applying wet compresses to a rapidly-swelling left shin, Stavish said, "I bashed my shin somewhere in that last section. My number was 48, and that worked against me today due to the weather. There were a couple of good sections, especially near the end. They had a 12-mile section of extremely tight woods. The rain made it seem even tighter. It kept getting slimier and you couldn't keep the tires clean. It was a lot of fun and they did a good job." . Husqvarna's Kevin Hines, who was tied for third in points .coming into the enduro, suffered bike problems and finished 18th overall, dropping a position in the standings. Suzuki's Steve Hatch sat out the enduro with a broken thumb, but maintained his fifth spot in the point standings. CN Results 0/A: I. Kelby Pepper (KTM); 2. Kurt Hough (Kaw); 3.
