Travis Pastrana (117) pulled the holeshot at the start of Junior Mini race, but couldn't hold off a hard-charging Nicholas Wey (20), who went on to the win. Greg Rand (77) edged Robbie Reynard (671).for second place in the 125cc A race. . .Mike Brown won the 125 and 250cc A classes to remain undefeated at Muddy Creek. rider blasted past, including secondmoto winner Maximoff. Richie Homton was second, ahead of Windham, Ramsey and J.D. Collins. In the Shootout moto, Brunck again pulled the holeshot, but was swooped on by Windham in the whoop section. Once into the point position, Windham wicked it up and out-distanced the rest of the field by some 10 seconds. Brunek seemed secure in second until Homton, Maximoff nad Ramsey swarmed down on him. In a bar-banging attempt to pass Brunck, Hornton went down and allowed Maximoff to scoot past. Maximoff went on Jo hound Brunck, and eventually motored past for second, well behind Windham. Brunck held on to third, ahead of Horton and Ramsey. As of late, the 25+ A class has been dominated by Ron Jones and Kip Bigelow, but Mike Postlewaite got into the act on Saturda¥ by taking the overall win and leaving second and third places for Jones and Bigelow. . In Sunday's Shootout, first-time 25+ racer Curtis Urps recovered from a sixth-place start and blistered into third position behind Kip Bigelow and Jones by the start of lap two. With Bigelow in t~e lead, Urps pressured Jones until early in lap three, when he banzaied down the hill off a jump in the back stretch to set his sights on Bigelow. Bigelow tried to defend his lead, but the new whoop section let him down. "1 made a mistake and he got by me," said Bigelow. "Then all I could think about was catching him, and I let Jones pass me a lap later." Jones powered into second place on the back section. but Urps was long gone. Urps scored the win ahead of Jones and Bigelow. "Man, I've been waiting for this for two years," said Urps. "My 25th birthday was last week, and I've finally gotten to race with these guys. This is great!" Oklahoma's Robbie Reynard explodedout of the gate at the start of the 125cc A qualifier and led the entire three laps. Rand rode a solid second, while Damien Plotts, Jeromy Buehl and Jeff May completed the top five slots. Reynard had less-than-smooth sailing in the main event, however, as he was involved in a first-tum pileup with Buehl and Jim Neese. Meanwhile,'the holeshot went to Blane Armbruster, who led for half a lap before Chad Lough zapped him .on the whoop section to take over the lead. Lough's reign was also short-lived, as his bike pitched him off when the front end dug in. , "I've only had these bikes a short while," explained Lough. "We haven't had time to modify them at all. They're still box-stock, and there are a few bugs. in them." With Lough out of the way, Mike Brown moved from fourth to second place, and immediately put Rand under pressure. Coming down the stairsteps, Brown put a wheel on Rand, hoping to unnerve the young.er rider, but Rand grabbed more throttle and surged ahead. . Two laps later, Brown was headed for a rear-wheel contact with Rand. Rand escaped when Brown went down. By this time, the pair had opened up enough of a lead on the rest of the field that Brown was able to remount, still in second, without losing more than a few seconds on Rand. Two more laps clicked off, with Rand solidly in command, until a miscue in the woods put Rand in the dirt, dropping him to second place behind Brown. Brown poured on the juice for another couple of laps and streaked away from Rand. But early in the next-to-Iast lap, the former Team Peak rider lost it in a back-section tum. Rand was able to close up considerably before Brown remounted, but the Honda pilot quickly regained his momentum and held the advantage to the checkered flag. Rand finished a close second. Meanwhile, Reynard was thrashing his way up through the p~ek from dead last. He passed Damien Plotts coming down the stairsteps with two laps to go, and took over third position. Reynard was able to pull up on Rand, providing an exciting moment when the two bumped going through the tower tum. Reynard dropped back slightly, but continued to harass Rand. At the flag, Reynard lacked just inches from edging out Rand for second in a stunning comeback performance, settling for third place. Plotts maintained fourth, while Kevin Walker held off hard-charging Todd Bennick for fifth. The 250cc A qualifier was almost a replay of the qualifier in the 125cc A class, as Reynard again jumped to the front and stayed there for the entire three laps, towing Rand along with him. Buehl finished third, and Dag Boyesen and Ty Harris filled out the top five. Brown charged off the line first in the main. By the second lap, the outcome of . the race was already virtually decided, as untouchable Brown was pursued by Rand, Neese, Walker, Buehl and Shawn Morga. A few position-swaps between Rand and Neese resulted in Neese's possession of second place at the flag, but otherwise the order remained the same. Reynard was unable to make up for an awful start, and came across the line in seventh place. Brown pocketed $1000 for his short afternoon's work, and set a Muddy Creek record for most Top Gun Showdown wins in a row, at three. Brock Sellards came up with the Senior Mini class win over Robbie Horton and Travis Langston. Sellards claimed the lead from the start, and was pursued by Horton and Langston for the entire race. Shae Bentley finished in fourth, while Charles Dunaway nailed down the fifth position. Kawasaki jockey Nicholas Wey crushed the Junior Mini opposition by taking wins in every moto. Travis Pastrana grabbed the early lead on Sunday, but his holeshot advantage evaporated as Wey powered into the lead and motored to the win. Pastrana stayed on the pipe for a convincing runner-up finish. Jeff Gibson, Randy Valade and Paul Justus rounded out the top five. tN RESULTS: 50 STK: 1. Adam Beeler (Yam); 2. Jacob Saylor (Yam); 3.
