~ LOCAL EVENTS The 22-year-old Hodges competed in the 125cc A, 250cc A and Open A classes on both days for a total of 12 moLO wins in 12 attempts. Ryan Clark was also on the gas, as the 14year-old won eacb moto in the 80cc A and Supermini classes. Organizers used a combined-moLO format that put the 125cc A racers on the track at the same time as the Supermini class, and Clark was able to make up the deficit and pass several of the 125cc riders. Justin Buckelew rode strong in the 60 and 80cc A classes, winning the former and finishing a hard-fought second to Clark on the 80cc machines. The event marked the final race of the season at Moriarty MX Park, with the next competition planned for February. ~ Results Travis Hodges topped 12 motos in two days of racing at Moriarty Motocross Park. David Hughes (582) powered through the mud to the 125cc Novice class win at Starwest. Lever levels competition at Starwest Motocross By David A. Procida 1 30 MORINO VAllEY, CA, ocr. 24 David Lever turned in two fine performances, winning one moto and taking second in the other to score the overall win in Starwest Supercross Park's 25 Plus Beginner class. When the gate fell to start moto one, Lever was the first to hook up on the concrete starting pad, and rocketed through the first turn ahead of the pack. Hot on his heels came Danny Pabon, Scott Fogarty, Brian Elliott and the rest of the pack. As the riders began to son themselves out, Elliott stalled his CR in the whoops and fell back. Up front, Pabon began to reel in Lever and by the third lap was on his back fender. Pabon began to show a tire to Lever, which resulted in Lever picking up the pace and leaving Pabon a few bike lengths to his rear. This let Fogarty close in and with two laps remaining he set Pabon up for the pass. Once by, Fogerty closed up the gap to the 'Ieader, but time ran out before he could mount a pass attempt. With Lever taking the checkered ahead of Fogarty, Pabon held on to the number-three slot ahead of Chance Edmondson. Moto two was a struggle for survival, as Lever again took the holeshot with Pabon once again breathing down his neck. Larry Baker had his YZ250 into the number three slot. Lever's luck ran out just past the halfway point, as he stalled his Honda in the whoops, giving the lead LO Pabon. Pabon was by Lever and not even looking back as he took the lead. Lever was back underway before anyone else got by him, but Baker had closed to within a couple of bike lengths of second place. Once again the time was a major factor, as Lever was closing fast but not fast enough. Pabon took the checkered a few bike lengths ahead of the Honda rider. Baker held on for third, with Edmondson and John Lever rounding out the top five for moto two. When the results were posted for .the overalls, it was Lever with the win.
