"I watched him a bit and he wasn't making any mistakes so I decided to keep a steady pace in second place and see what happened." Gardner's win in the Expert Heavyweight Superbike was a little more ofa tussle, though not much. Riding his Yamaha aWOl Superbike, Gardner took over the lead on the second lap, blowing past early leader Jimmy Adamo, who'd slowed dramatically, and extending his advantage. By the fifth of seven laps it was plus6.5 and would end up at 9.332 seconds. . Adamo was second, crossing the stripe a few seconds in front of Eric Moe, who ran third most of the race. Gardner also rode his Yamaha aWOl in the earlier Expert Unlimited GP, but he couldn't keep pace with Yoshimura Suzuki's recent recruit, Donald Jacks. Jacks led from the drop of the green flag, quickly pulling away and doing 'wheelies down ,the straightaway from the' west hOr<"...eshoe to the banking. Halfway into the seven-lap sprint, he . was about 13 seconds in front of Gardner, backing off to finish 10.651 in front at the end. . By winning the race, Jacks set a new' record of winning titles in six consecutive years, this race being his ninth title. "I'm really proud of the record I've set. I've raced against a lot of different riders over the years," the Floridian said. "Keeping the string going hasn't been easy. This is my personal bike. It's a 1988 Suzuki' GSXR750 with an '89 1100 motor. I brought it here to get one more championship and keep the string going. I won't have a chance to continue the string next year because I'll be riding for the Yoshimura Suzuki team," (N Results FRIDAY EX SPTSMN: I. Gary Stumm (Yam); 2. Mark Smith (W-R); 3.
