Meister moves at Blackhawk Farms Road Race By Gordon Lunde BELOIT, IL, SEPT. 13 Bob Meister and Mike Hunter turned in identical one-minute 14.05-second lap times to set a new track record at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. The fasl'1aps came in the Unlimited GP class in AMA Championship Cup ProAm Series action. Ray Yoder got out front at the start, but held the lead for only one lap as Meister powered by on the front straight. William White held third, Brad Dunkel ran fourth and Hunter rounded out the top five. Hunter snuck by Dunkel in a tight section on lap three, and then dropped White to fourth on the next lap. Yoder was working on Meister and got around to retake the lead on lap five. Yoder's tires went away during lap seven and he could not hold off Meister any longer. Meister gladly accepted the lead and was never headed to the finish. Hunter held on for third and made a run at Yoder, but ran out of time. jeff Heino made the 26-hour journey from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to race in the Unlimited Supersport event. This was the last event in which Heino could qualify for the National final at Daytona Beach, and he was riding a borrowed bike with well-worn tires. At the start, Yoder jumped out front and was gone. Heino ran second with Meister close behind. In the next couple of laps, Heino somehow pulled away from Meister. Yoder scored a runaway victory over Heino and Meister. Results U/L GP EX: I. Robert Meister (Yam); 2. Ray Yoder Jr. (SUl); 3. Michael Hunter (Yam); 4. Brad Dunkel (SUl); 5. William While (Hon).
