first-ascent time but was still not quick enough to make it into the top three. Ted Wilkins' time from the first round held and he walked away with the class win. Dresser and Pellin used their strong second runs to move into the top five, with Dresser in third and Pellin in fifth. Frazier placed second and Pinsonnault went home with the fourth-place trophy. Gary Miller had what was probably the most remarkable finish of the day aboard his Harley-Davidson, as he started off the second round in the 800cc class. Milfer caught so much air off the second breaker that he and his bike went through the timing lights with a crash. Greg Williams floated over both jumps and finished strong, but a sluggish start left him with a 7.319-second time. Veteran John Williams took a very straight line up the hill to slip in a quick time of 6.888 seconds aboard his Honda. Gerencer Sr.'s second ride found him starting far to the left side. After the jump at 220 feet Gerencer's Harley stopped climbing completely, but he cracked it wide open and muscled to the top. Wade Williams got to the line just as the sun was setting. He caught a patch of loose dirt after the first jump and fishtailed, but he recovered to put in a 7.091-second time. Team USA's Bobby Castledine improved on his first run, but he wasn't able to tum the time that he expected, settling for a showing of 7.665 seconds. Casey was another rider who couldn't improve on his first run. Yoder was still holding a slim lead but was not confident, as he watched Tom Reiser line up for his second run. "Tom is good on this hill," said Yoder. "He'll be quick." Yoder had guessed right, and he watched his advantage evaporate as Reiser powered his Harley-Davidson to the top in 6.689 seconds, the best time overall for both classes. "I lined up left, because I saw John (Williams) come out of there fast," said Yoder. "I told (my teammate) Randy (Gabriel), 'Set me up where you want. You get me a holeshot ready and I'll trust you with it.' Bill Eyler of the club here told me that everyone that has been running fast has come out of the hole hard, so I dialed it on and it left fast." Reiser was one of a very few riders that got a fast start without catching too much air on the jump. His bike recovered on the run, and he glided through the second jump and the finish. None other of the 800cc riders could top Reiser, but Harry Schreiber did knock three-tenths off his first-round time with a 7.031-second run, placing him in fifth for the day. The round concluded with Reiser, Yoder, Gerencer Sr., John Williams and Schreiber in the top five positions in the class. When the series standings were tabulated, both classes were affected. Frazier retained the lead in the 540cc division with 103 points, followed by Pinsonnault with 90. Wilkins and Dresser both moved up into third and fourth, respectively, while Dresser slipped back to fifth. In the bigbore diviSion class, Tom Reiser took over Wade Williams' lead with 81 points, sending Williams down to.a close second with 78 points. Greg Williams fell from second (N to third.
