Twiford wins Pagoda MX opener Results By Dick Archer BIRDSBORO, PA, SEPT. 13 Michael Twiford dominated both the Open A and Vet A classes after some tremendous . racing at the Pagoda M.C. 's new MX facility in Birdsboro. In the Open A class, Brad Stepp and Ronald Potenski tried to catch the flying Twiford, but it wasn't to be as Twiford and his Kawasaki were the unbeatable combination on this day. In the 250cc A class, Dave Green led a freight train of riders to win the six-lap race. Green followed that up with a win in the Plus 25 class, winning both motos. Perhaps the most heated battle of the day was in the second moto of the 125cc B class. Michael Lindsay and Patrick Cassidy played cat and mouse for five of the six laps on the abrasive, one-mile Pagoda course. Cassidy, though, finally wore Lindsay down, pulling 50: I. U Jason Edwards won the 125cc A class in the Yamaha Fall Classic at the Muddy Creek Raceway. Edwards holeshot the first moto, but Mike Brown took over the early lead and remained . in front for the rest of the race. Chad Lough and Jim Neese battled for third, with Neese zapping Lough in the last few woods-section turns of the final lap to grab the position. The start of moto two was out of the ordinary, and set the stage for a Twilight Zonetype round. Lough blasted to the lead, with Brown breathing down his neck and towing .rookie Todd Hullstetler, who was riding in his first-ever A-class race. Looking comfortable with the front-runners, Hullstetler was right in the thick of thin~ when Brown and Lough went for the same hne in a turn. Lough went down hard, and Hullstetler had no chance to avoid the fallen machine and was launched oll the track. With Lough and Huffstetler out of the way, it looked like clear sailing for Brown. Todd Bennick, Kevin Walker and Edwards put on a great show just to the rear of Brown as they duked it out for second place. By lap six of the eight lap match, Edwards had ~wered his way into the spot and set his Sights on Brown. In the woods section of the Ul-mile circuit, Brown pulled his brand-new Honda oll the track with a seized motor, handing Edwards the moto win and the overall victory. "I hate that the win came because Mike's bike locked up," said Edwards, "But I'll take itl" Consistency helped 250cc C overall winner James'Adams, as he put together two secondplace finishes to come out on top. First-moto victor Tim Calhoun ran into some bad luck in the second moto, crashing in the woods section and limping home in the lOth spot. Marty Williams led the second moto from start to finish, his 5-1 score giving him second overall. Results 50 STK: I. Isha Wood (Yam); 2. Jeffrey Fields (Yam); 3. Adam Beeler (Yam); 4.
