Parks was the beneficiary of the crash and took over the lead, while most of the pack was held up by the crash. DeCoto determined at Washougal MX By Don Schneider WASHOUGAL, WA, JULY 31-AUG I early 800 riders turned out to compete at the two-day AMA Amateur National Motocross held before the AMA 125/500cc National held at Washougal MX Park, but the stand-out performance was turned in by a handicapped rider that finished only 16th in the 125cc Beginner class. Todd DeCoto turned in consistent 17-16 moto finishes in the 125cc Beginner division three, but what made his feat incredible is that he competes with only one arm. DeCoto removed his front brake assembly and replaced it with his clutch lever so that he could ride motocross. While the crowd cheered for DeCoto, Honda rider Derek Jasper went on to handily win both motos going away for the overall win in the 125cc Beginner division three. Mike Comer, Michael Lindsay and Keith Blanchard all ended the day in a six-point tie, and Comer was awarded second overall because of a runner-up finish in moto two. Vylam Nguyen holeshot moto one of the first division of 125cc Intermediates and was followed by Stan Sloboda, Ryan Hageman, Lou Caulkins and Oren Bray. Forrest Transue rounded turn one in 10th. . By lap two, Transue had blitzed into fifth and set his sights on Caulkins <\Dd Hageman. At the end of lap three in the whoops, Transue bezerked past the duo within a split second of one another.. Transue passed Slaboda in the woods on lap four and zapped Nguyen on the uphill on lap five to garner the lead. Hageman also worked past Nguyen on the final circuit in the woods for second. Caulkins, Sloboda and Robb Floth rounded out the top six at the moto's end. The Sportsmanship Award was given to Ryan Hageman in moto two. Michael York was off the line first and rounded turn one with the lead. N 25
