A
nd just like that we have our
2022 Monster Energy AMA
Supercross 450SX cham-
pion. Eli Tomac added a second
title to his star-studded resume
this weekend in front of his home
state fans in Colorado at Empower
Field at Mile High. It feels like just
last week we were gearing up for
the season opener, still speculat-
ing how Tomac would fare on his
new Monster Energy Star Racing
Yamaha ride and how many rounds
it would take for him to get a win.
By round three he held the series
points lead and then clicked off
seven wins during the following
nine rounds. This succession of
dominance gapped the field and
allowed the number-three to put the
championship into cruise control.
Tomac won the war, clinching the
title one round early while lifelong
rival, Jason Anderson, went on to
win the battle of the 450SX main
event.
Tomac only needed to finish
14th or better in Denver to clinch
the title. Mission accomplished.
In the 250SX West class, Hunter
Lawrence handled the pressure,
won the race, and takes the cham-
pionship to the series finale.
