After the July 26 National Championship 250cc MX Series finale at Troy,
Ohio, YaJI:}aha's Damon Bradshaw
and Doug Dubach will join teammate Jeff Emig in contesting the
remaining rounds of the National
Championship 125cc M"X Series
aboard Yamaha YZ 125s. In 1991,
Bradshaw 'and Dubach contested the
500cc National Championship Series
aboard heavily-modified WR500s.
According to Yamaha, the idea was
Bradshaw's. He approached the decision makers at Yamaha and said, "The
WR isn't even a motocross bike, why
race it? The magazines are slamming
the YZI25 for being slow, but I've ridden Emig's and it's a rocket. I'll win
a few races on one and show everyone
how slow it is." Actually, Bradshaw
won't have too much to prove now,
since Emig scored his first-ever
National win at the July 5 Red Bud
125cc National in Michigan.
The July 19 Unadilla 250cc U.S. MX
GP in New Berlin, New York will see
Damon Bradshaw debut the 1993
Yamaha YZ250, which is scheduled
to arrive at Yamaha dealerships in late
September. The new YZ80 and YZl25
are scheduled to follow in October and
November, respectively. Look for
photos and reports on the new YZ
lineup elsewhere in this issue of Cycle
News.

Honda's Jean-Michel Bayle was a
no-show at the fifth round of the 250cc
National Motocross series in Buchanan, Michigan, due to a shoulder
injury incurred at the San Jose Supercross. "He's over there (in Europe)
testing road race bikes, but his
shoulder is still a little too sore for the
pounding of motocross," said Race
Team Manager Dave Arnold. "Right
now, the plan is for him to race in
the L.A. Supercross next week, and
then do all the 500cc Nationals."
Team North County Yamaha's Tyson
Vohland competed at the Red Bud
National MX while wearing a pair of
suspenders underneath his chest
protector. "I've been having some
trouble lately· with my riding pants
falling down," said Vohland. "These
should help them to stay put."
The August I Mid-Ohio round of the
AMA/CCS EBC Endurance Challenge Series is "sold out." All 50 grid
positions have been filled, and postentry will not be available.
The final round of the Camel Supercross Series at the Los Angeles
Memorial Coliseum, July II, will
decide what is one of the closest
championship title battles in supercross history. With $100,000 going to
the series champion, Team Yamaha's
Damon Bradshaw leads two-time
champ Jeff Stanton of Team Honda
by just six points, 312-306, while the
defending champ Jean-Michel
Bayle of Team Honda is just four
points back of Stanton with 302. The
tightest points race in supercross
history happened in 1985 when Kawasaki's Jeff Ward and Yamaha'.s Broc
Glover went into the final round at
