Jesse Eric Williams (184) holeshot the 60cc (9·B) class over Justin Delaware (44X) and Jeremy Gray (90J) at the Hom Rapids MX. In other competition, a disappointing rider turnout forced officials to combine several of the smaller classes. This made for some strange, but nonetheless exciting, racing. In the combined SOec/I25cc Beginner class, it was bizarre right from the start, with 80ec rider Andy Gregg surprising all by grabbing the holeshot. Jeremy Cade put the superior power of his 125cc Suzuki to good use, passing the sOec on a fast straight. Gregg stayed close behind, but was passed by a charging Anthony Aranda. Aranda looked to challenge Cade for the lead, but dropped off the pace on lap four. Meanwhile, Cade and Gregg battled down to the last turn. Gregg thought he could make a pass on the inside, but miscalculated, jamming his handlebar into Cabe's bike. Gregg went down, his bike becoming entangled with Cade's machine. The determined Cade kept the throttle on, dragging Gregg's bike nearly twenry feet, in a desperate attempt to ~Ivage the win, but he ran out of luck just inches from the finish line. Dan DeNuzza and Daniel Hodges slipped by for first and second before Cade could get his bike across the line. Cade ended up third, and Gregg managed to recover for the 80ec class win. Pederson pounds Midwest MX By Brad Jooes PALMYRA, NE, MAY ~I After a full evening of racing at the Dallas Supercross, Chad Pederson drove all night to win all six motos he entered at the Midwest Motocross Park in Palmyra, Nebraska. In the 125cc class Pederson led from the start, leaving the rest of the pack to pick up the pieces. Brian Deegan finished second and third place went to Mike Boston. In moto two Pederson again led the pack, with Nathan Dietz holding second before Deegan and Boston slipped past. Both Pederson and Deegan picked up the pace to lap the entire field of riders by the last lap. The 250cc Expert class proved to be very excLUng as Deegan pushed ·his Kawasaki into the lead of moto one.· Pederson stalked Deegan for twO laps before elbowing his way by in an off-camber turn. Two laps later Pederson pulled away but crashed, giving Deegan. the lead again. Pederson remounted and cruised for a lap before reeling in Deegan again. Two laps later, Pederson altempted a pass which caused Deegan to bobble, and Pederson shot by for the win. Pederson commandeered the second moLO with Deegan again keeping pace a few bikelen!;"ths behind for the entire race. Both riders agaJ.n lapped the entire field by the checkers. McCormick motors at Horn Rapids Motocross By Don Sdmeider RICHLAND, WA, JUNE 6-7 JasOn McCormick won ten out of lwelve motos, and five of six Intermediate classes at rounds one and two of the CMC Pac-West Nationals, held at Horn Rapids ORV Park. Moto one in the 250cc Intermediate class saw McCormick in the lead with Shawn Highland, Ryan Leach, Jonas Dunn, Sean Naslund, and Mike Koehn in tow. It seemed as if the riders couldn'l make any ground on each other as the order remained the same to the finish. McCormick, howeyer, mOlored 10 a 2o-second lead in the five-lap moto. McCormick pulled another holeshot in the 125cc' Intermediate main event. The 36-rider class waS broken down into qualifiers, and narrowed 10 30 riders. Dunn started in third, and tried to make a pass on Michael York into turn lWO, but it backfired and Dunn took a major soil sample. Chris Dineen, Danny Moore, Eric Waunch and Mike Koehn rounded OUI the field heading into lap two. Halfway into the lap, Koehn went wide in the whoops and York sped paSl. McCormick earned the win ahead of York and Koehn. . MOIO one in the 125cc Pro class saw Chaun McCalister gate perfectly with Jay Whipple, Aaron Shardelman, Larry Jackson and Grayson Hart in tow. Halfway into lap one, Shardelman and Jackson pushed by Whipple in the back section. Scott Grimm displaced Hart al the end of lap twO over the tablelop for fifth. On lap three, Jackson pulled a block pass for second by the announcers booth, but lost the position in the next ·turn. Fed up, Jackson flew back by Shardelman, and pursued McAlister who was up eight seconds. Jamie Munson started ninth, and displaced Marc Johnson, Jason Klubben and a downed Hart by the halfway point. Grimm took advantage of a bobble by Shardelman on the white flag lap for third, and would hold that position to the checkered flag. Up front, McAlister finished five seconds ahead of a closing Jackson. McAlister pulled the holeshot in moto two, followed by Shardelman, Munsen, Jamie Richardson and Jackson. On lap two, Munsen capitalized on Shardelman, who blew the berm by the booth. Jackson ate their roost for long enough, and two turns later dashed up the inside to snatch second. As the white flag flew, McAlister seemed to be set on cruise control, and went on to earn the win over Jackson. who was well up on Munson, Shardelman, Richardson and Grimm. Results SATURDAY WMN: I.
