Moore is enough at Paso Robles Short Track By Mike Vancil PASO ROBLES, CA, JUNE 6 Danny Moore was far more than anyone could handle in both the SOOcc and Open Expert classes at the Mid-State Fairgrounds in Paso Robles. While Eric Green won the heat races in both classes, Danny Moore made all the right adjustments, coming back to win both finaJs on the ever-changing track. In the 500cc final, Moore was off the line like a shot and had the lead by the second lap. Eric Green was hampered by a midfield start and had to work past several contenders. He was not able to launch a concentrated challenge to Moore because of pressure being applied by expert sensation Johnny Murphree. The pressure finally got to Green, with Murphree getting by for the second at the checkers. The Open class final saw Michelle DiSalvo get an even start with Danny Moore, Kevin Crowley, Green and Murphree in tow. By lap three Moore had begun to pull away and both Green and Murphree were clear of Crowley, DiSaJvo and Danny Ritchie. The battle for second was a crowd pleaser, as the young Murphree (soon to be a high school student). put pressure on Green. Late in the race Murphree got a good jump out of tum two and stuck his front wheel under Green going into tum three. Green moved in on Murphree, bobbled and fell, 6ut was up immediately. Crowley was under a great deal ~ of J'ressure from DiSalvo, but kept his line an earned third place.. Jeremy Twill had a spectacular night of racing, amassing two first-place trophies in the SOOCC Junior and Junior Open classes. The young racer was not blessed with excellent starts. but worked past early leaders and then was never threatened until the checkers flew. Results· PW 50 A: 1. David Brown (Yam); 2.
