LOOKING BACK
Brad Lackey was pictured on the cover 40 years ago to accompany our
interview with the future World champ who was about to embark on his
10th and what would be his final (and most successful) motocross Grand
Prix tour. We titled the interview: "All I Need Is A Little Luck"... Eddie
Lawson won the AMA Superbike round at Riverside Raceway... Jeff
Ward and Donnie Hansen topped the 125/250cc National Motocross at
Lake Whitney, Texas... Jay Springsteen broke the flat track win record
he shared with Kenny Roberts at the Sacramento Mile.

We featured the Cycle World Show from Los Angeles on the cover of Cycle
News 50 years ago, even though we were less than thrilled by the lack of
enthusiasm by some of the manufacturers and aftermarket companies that
chose not to, or half-heartedly, attend... We had coverage of the National
Road Race from Road Atlanta, where Jody Nicholas took the win ahead of
Yvon DuHamel... We covered Sylvain Geboers' victory at the Spanish MX
Grand Prix... We tested the Greeves 175cc Pathfinder off-roader.
