CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS MUCH IMPROVED There was a great deal of relief at the state of the Circuit of the Americas track surface, after the layout was resurfaced from turns two to 10 and 12 to the entry of 16. Last October, the MotoGP riders had said they would refuse to return to the Texan venue if the notorious bumps around the track were not addressed, with several saying it wasn't safe. "When you think about last year, for me, 80 percent of the bumps, or even more, are bet- ter," said reigning World Champion Fabio Quartararo. "Just turn 10, if you are not on the line, it is tricky." Joan Mir added. "When we come here to America, there are always really bumpy tracks, and we have to live with that. Briefly... Nakagami (LCR Idemitsu Hon- da) 14th, and Andrea Dovizioso taking the final points in 15th. In the championship, Bas- tianini rockets back up to the top of the standings on 61 points from Rins on 56 and Aleix Espargaro drops to third on 50. Moto2 After qualifying on pole posi- tion, hopes were high for Amer- ican Racing's Cameron Beau- bier after the Californian broke the lap record with a 2:08.7510 flyer, but his race was one that the five-time MotoAmerica Su- perbike Champion would like to forget. After dropping to fourth off the start behind Celestino Vietti (Mooney VR46 Kalex), Aron Canet (Flexbox HP40 Kalex) and Toni Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team Kalex), a few mistakes over the course of the race saw him drop steadily back until he crashed out of fourth on the final lap at turn 16. The win would eventually go to Arbolino. "I want to show my eyes to prove the words are real," he said. "I worked a lot man, I worked a lot. Since Moto3 I was already feeling I could do the first year the Championship in the Moto2 class. Honestly, I worked so hard. I didn't sleep during the ROUND 4 / APRIL 8-10, 2022 CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS / AUSTIN, TX P88 MOTOGP I FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Andrea Dovizioso (04) held on for the final point.
