Honda Brings Back The Dax 125 (Just Not For Us) O ne of the most famous names in little-bike biking, the Honda Dax 125, is coming back to Honda's lineup in Japan and Europe—but not here—at least not next year. The motorcycle we knew in the U.S. as the CT70 (Trail 70) was named the Dax (ST70) and ran from 1969 to 1981, named so due to the bike's skinny steel backbone frame that gave the look of a dachshund (sausage) hence the cult-like follow- ing, especially in Japan. Honda's wildly successful Grom 125cc roadster saw the company bring back the Mon- key in 2019, a machine that saw enormous success, especially in America, during the motorcycle gold rush of the 1960s and '70s. The new Monkey is thus the basis for the new Dax, using the same air-cooled 124cc single cylin- der for 6.9 horsepower and 8 lb-ft of torque, and running the same semi-automatic centrifugal 4-speed clutch system found on the Super Cub we tested here in 2020. The steel backbone frame is back to give the bike its distinc- tive look, and the fuel sits under the rider's seat. Even though this is a European and Japanese market machine, we would be very surprised not to see this bike come to America as a 2024, given the demand will undoubtedly be enormous. CN IN THE WIND P52 Sexton: "I Feel Pretty Good" C hase Sexton says he's "...a little sore..." but seemingly okay after his spectacular crash during qualifying that took him out of the Seattle Supercross. Seattle wasn't very good for me," he said. "I had a big get-off in the second qualifying session; I mis- shifted on a three-on and ended up in neutral, and went over the bars, which didn't feel great. I hit my back pretty hard and was overall shaken up, so we decided to sit out the night. Overall, I feel pretty good [on Monday, March 28]. My body's a little sore, but I'm excited to get back to work, address any issues and get back at it in St. Louis." "We're going to regroup, do what we can to get Chase in the shape that he needs to be in for the next race," said Honda HRC Team Manager Lars Lindstrom. Luckily for Sexton, the 2022 Monster Energy Supercross Series takes its first weekend off of the season this weekend before resuming in St. Louis, April 9. CN Chase Sexton appears to be okay after his hard crash during qualifying at the Seattle Supercross.
