50 Years Ago APRIL 11, 1972 P128 LOOKING BACK Alex Jorgensen won the Ascot TT and was featured on the cover 40 years ago... Ricky Graham and Ted Boody went 2-3... Saddleback Park hosted round two of the National Motocross Championship, where Mark Barnett (125cc) and Broc Glover (250cc) came away with the class wins... Frank Stacy topped the 1-Day ISDE Qualifier in Tellico Plains, Tennessee... David Busby won the Long Beach Grand Prix 250cc GP Invitational Road Race... We "tour tested" a Honda Gold Wing Aspencade by riding it from Los Angeles to Daytona. 40 Years Ago APRIL 14, 1982 Our 1972 Yamaha DT-MX 250 and RT2-MX 360 motocross test bikes were pictured on the cover of Cycle News 50 years ago. The 250 sold for $999 and the 360 $1098... Bob Grossi and Brad Lackey were the stars at the Dirt Diggers North's Hangtown Motocross in Plymouth, California... Cal Rayborn dominated the John Player Trans-Atlantic Trophy Series. The English Team took the series victory, but Rayborn was the talk of the town... Kenny Zahrt won it all at the Canadians versus the Americans motocross at Corona Raceway. (Right) Kenny Zahrt was all smiles after winning the Can-Am Motocross at Corona Raceway 50 years ago. Can-Am Motocross at Corona Troy Bayliss (1) won both legs of the Philip Island World Superbike round 20 years ago.
