Barcia said of the pass. "I don't think it was dirty. Those corners are difficult, you either go for it or you don't go for it, and I saw an opportunity and I went for it. It's not like I was going a hundred miles per hour trying to clean the guy out, I was on my brakes." Barcia continued to lead for the next nine laps with Tomac closing in ever so slightly. A small bobble in the rhythm section allowed Tomac to get within striking distance and seal the deal. Barcia stayed close to finish second but was later docked championship points only 19 back from second place. "It was fun to be in that fight, I was actually close to Eli at one point," Musquin said. "When he got Justin, he ran away, and I kept charging trying to pass Justin. But after that, towards the end, I lost a little bit, maybe some lappers, maybe some mistakes, a little bit of everything. Maybe through the whoops a little slower and then that rhythm after the whoops I decided to go double instead of triple in because I didn't want to throw it away.
