Robert Wins Idaho Hare & Hound
T
eam FMF KTM Factory Rac-
ing's Off-Road Taylor Robert
picked up right where he left off,
taking the win at round two of
the AMA National Hare & Hound
Series, Presented by FMF, in
Murphy, Idaho, March 20. Despite
the temperamental weather, Dirt
Inc. motorcycle club laid out an
outstanding racecourse that led to
some classic desert racing battles.
Wet dirt provided bar-to-bar
action all day, and after 95 miles
of racing, KTM's Taylor Robert
beat 3 Bros./Hatch Racing
Husqvarna's Dalton Shirey by 10
seconds.
Factory Beta's Joe Wasson
claimed a commanding holeshot
off the bomb aboard his Beta
480RR, with Factory KTM's
Taylor Robert and 3 Bros./Hatch
Racing Husqvarna's Dalton
Shirey hot on his heels. Rain the
night before would allow for a
mostly dust-free race for the top
runners. An early bobble by Was-
son would allow both Robert and
Shirey to sneak by, setting the
tone for the remaining race.
Dalton Shirey took the lead
early in loop one, maintaining
good pace into the alternate pit
due to a longer 55-mile loop one.
"He passed me in the alternate
pit, I was keying off of him and
from there it was kinda cool to
see and learn off of him, just tak-
ing the opportunity to learn from
someone with so much knowl-
edge," Shirey said.
With Robert taking the op-
portunity for a clean pass, Shirey
would keep the pressure on all
the way through loop two. After
over two hours of racing, only 10
seconds separated the two at
the finish.
"There was a lot of variety of
terrain out there, it was a little
faster than I thought it was going
