Brown looked like an all-new
rider in Detroit, building on the
confidence he laid down earlier
this season. The GasGas rider
won his heat race and quickly
took over second in the main
event. He even made a run at
Lawrence when the lead group
began to get into lapped riders.
Brown showed him a wheel, or
a fender if you ask Lawrence,
but never had enough to seal the
deal. Late in the race, McA-
doo passed Brown through the
whoops and that was all she
wrote for the number-44.
"Those whoops were tricky,"
Brown said. "The first three
or four were the main battle, if
you got the first four clean you
could blitz through them. But the
lap Cam got me, I just clipped
the double and didn't have the
speed going in and thought it
would be risky to send it through
these, so I just doubled through.
It's just one of those learning
things I've got to get under my
belt." Brown currently holds third
in the overall point standings by
one over Stilez Robertson.
