LOOKING BACK
Our Suzuki RM250Z test bike was pictured in action on the cover of
Cycle News 40 years ago. We called it a "lightweight rocket"... We
also tested the Ossa 350 trials bike... We featured an interview with
Steve Wise, focusing on his experiences at Daytona... We enrolled
in the Harden/Roeseler Desert Racing School... Mark Barnett
doubled up at the Houston Supercross at the Astrodome, winning both
doubleheader rounds... Terry Vance won the NHRA Gatornationals
Pro Stock class at Gainesville.
We featured the Mint 400 desert race on the cover of Cycle News 50
years ago, and the 250cc-class winning duo, Malcolm Smith and Mark
Blackwell, were pictured, as well as the overall winning team of Bob
Grossi and Rolf Tibblin... Brad Lackey (250cc) and Jim Wilson (500cc)
were the two big winners at the Pacific-AMA Motocross Series round,
which was held at Saddleback Park... We had a story on American trials
riders who were competing in Europe.
