doing everything he can to help
me out and get me to the front,
and obviously we're doing our
best to get to the front and hope-
fully we can get one of these
wins soon."
A second-place finish bumps
Stewart into a tie for second over-
all (with Anderson) in the series
points, 42 down from Tomac.
Barcia got back on the podium
in Detroit for his fourth third-
place finish of the '22 season.
The GasGas rider came into the
night sporting seven stitches
to his right-middle finger after a
practice crash on Tuesday. To
be riding at all was a feat in itself.
Barcia got off to a great start in

me back. I got out to the lead
and then got shuffled back pretty
majorly. But this morning it was

and the only thing I was worried
about was an infection, but we've
been cleaning it all day since it is
a deep cut."
Suzuki's Justin Bogle. Many held
their breath in anticipation of a
San Diego repeat, but the two
Justins played nicely as Barcia
eventually moved into the lead.
He stayed up front for three
laps before being overtaken by
Anderson and eventually got
shuffled back to sixth. Barcia
stayed in it though, riding a smart
race and being in the right place
at the right time. As the chaos
of downed riders ensued with
seven minutes left on the clock,
Barcia jumped up three spots
and into podium range.
"Main event I didn't notice it
[the injured finger]," Barcia said.
"Obviously my intensity wasn't
the greatest so yeah, it did hold
Malcolm Stewart had
a solid ride. He got
in trouble once when
he ran off the track
but kept his cool and
nailed down second
