Webb Wins Hawaii IRC Endurofest
I
RC Endurofest made its way
to the North Shore of Oahu
over the March 12-13 weekend,
featuring hard enduro clinics and
the Kahuku Hard Scramble race.
Elevated Action Sports partnered
up with the Hawaii Motorsports
Association to create an event that
celebrated the Hawaiian off-road
riding culture, since most hard
enduro-based resources remain
on the mainland. FactoryONE
Sherco's Cody Webb and IRC
Tire's Rich Larsen flew over to
the islands and borrowed bikes to
teach several hard enduro clinics
on Saturday and race the three-
hour hard scramble on Sunday.
Race Director, Kapili Olson, and
his crew set up a 12-mile course
around the Kahuku Motocross
Park grounds. There were over
350 racers entered in a variety of
classes from youth to AA, and the
HMA built separate courses and
splits to accommodate.
The more advanced courses
trekked up and down the steep
canyons, going through very slick
creek beds and a treacherous
waterfall that held up racers all
day. It rained a few days before-
hand, so the conditions under
the canopy and in the creeks
were ideal for an extreme race.
Webb carried the lead all race
long but was penalized time due
to a missed section while being
out front. He still won the race
after the penalty and shared the
top-five with two Satterfield broth-
ers from Kauai, Larsen (from
Utah) and Jared Lambe, who
lives on Oahu.
