Tomac was all over Webb with only a few laps to go but the deal was sealed when Webb fumbled with a lapped rider, allowing Tomac to take the lead and close out the final three laps. At the checkers he claimed his sixth Daytona victory, the win- ningest rider at the World Center of Racing. "It's unbelievable to get win number six, and it was everything I wished for," Tomac said. "It was a tough day, though. I was hav- ing a little bit of a tough time with the track earlier in the day, but once the lights came on, it was like I flipped a switch, and it was game on. Me and Cooper rode wire-to-wire for most of the race. We were going back and forth around the different parts of the track on being the better guy, and I was able to capitalize on him being stuck behind a guy and made the move. I put myself in the posi- tion for that move, though, and just went on from there. It was such a cool night for us." This win, paired with costly mistakes from his competition, allowed Tomac to MYOWNRACE 27 MALCOLM STEWART 8TH 450SX "I got P1 in prac ce and I won my heat race, so it was a really good start to the night," Stewart said. "I had a li le mishap in the main event—I didn't have the best start and then I got into it with Anderson and Tomac and I got knocked off the track, and then Anderson and I went down in the next turn and we got back up and we fought. We felt good tonight and it was a good ride for us despite what happened, but that's part of racing. We're going to take what we learned and keep moving forward." 14 DYLAN FERRANDIS 4TH 450SX "For sure, it was be er than the last couple of weeks. It's cool to fight up front and be back in the ba le. The track was pre y gnarly tonight. We got a good start in the heat race and be er than usual in the main, so it was a good step in the right direc on. Again, it was good to be back in the top-five with the guys figh ng for a podium posi on, and that's be er than the last few weeks." (Below) Chase Sexton had an uneventful night. He held second for a while before finishing out the main event on the podium in third.
