kind of flying, so he passed me, he made a small mistake so I knew that this was my chance, and I could not throw it away. I pushed as hard as possible; he was still there on my rear wheel, but I won." Defending champion Jeffrey Herlings did not suit up. He is still on the mend due to a preseason crash/injury. In MX2, which saw several top contenders drop their bikes in both motos, it was GasGas rider Laengenfelder who made the fewest (if any) mistakes on the day, winning both motos for his maiden MX2 overall victory. The German pretty much went wire- to-wire for the win, while KTM's Tom Vialle chased the whole way, finishing just four seconds back. Dutchman Kay de Wolf (Husqvarna) was right there, too, taking third right behind Vialle. Belgian Jago Geerts (Yamaha) and Frenchman Stephen Rubini (Honda) rounded out the top five in the moto. In moto two, Laengenfelder passed fallen leader Vialle on the third lap and never relinquished the position. Vialle gave chase the whole way only to fall again on the last lap and hand second to Geerts, who had been keeping the pressure on. The Dutchmen Roan Van De Moosdijk (Husqvarna) and Wolf completed the top five. Laengenfelder pulled a maximum 50 points on the day, while Vialle was second overall, followed by Geerts, Wolf and Moosdijk. Laengenfelder admitted he was a bit surprised to get the win with a pair of firsts. "I didn't expect it," he said. "I was coming into this weekend trying to do my best and didn't think about any positions but then in the qualify- ing race I felt good and had a good start. The riding was really good for me and also, I felt really good on the bike, so then today I had two really good starts. In the second race it was really tough to fight with Tom and Jago, they were really fast, and I was just trying to look forward." CN MXGP 1. Tim Gajser (Hon) 1-2 2. Jorge Prado (KTM) 4-1 3.
