Joint award to Jorge Lorenzo
and Dani Pedrosa, both of whom
saved at least a little something not
only of their championship chances, but also their prestige. Neither
could have stayed home had the
other one come, so in the end they
both did.
Both rode steadily and bravely;
neither succumbed to physical or
mental weakness.
Most importantly, neither
crashed. Not only did this mean
no further risk to their own injuries,
but also it preserved other riders
from the chance of being innocent
victims themselves.
This was the biggest save. By
not crashing, the pair saved racing
from having to take a serious look
at regulations that appear to let
riders out on track in questionable
physical condition.
