LOOKING BACK
Brad Lackey was pictured on the cover of Cycle News preparing for
what would be the biggest race year of his career. Lackey won the final
round of the CMC Golden State Series at Lake Madera, California, while
testing his new factory Suzuki... Speaking of testing, we reviewed the
1982 Maico 250 Alpha 1 MXer... We interviewed motocrosser Steve
Wise, focusing on his win at the Houston TT... We also interviewed
American trials rider Curt Comer... And we featured a story on
"Motocross Mom" Gale Webb.
Part two of our series on how to ride observed trials was featured on the
cover of Cycle News 50 years ago... We covered the Soboba Grand Prix,
held on the Soboba Indian Reservation in San Jacinto, California. You'll
never guess who won—Malcolm Smith, of course... Cycle News tested
the Bultaco Matador, the Spanish company's latest 250cc enduro bike.
We were impressed... SRA hosted The Calico Ghost Run Enduro at the
