The gate dropped three times,
as well, for the 250SX West
division. Lawrence topped the
charts in qualifying and claimed
an elusive first win of the 2022
season.
Lawrence won only one of the
three races but was in the mix all
night long. His consistent 2-1-2
finishes earned the overall after
a dramatic night on the track.
Lawrence tailed Craig in races
one and three, and capitalized
on a huge crash involving Craig
and SmarTop/BullFrog Spas/
MotoConcepts Honda's Vince
Friese in race two.
As Friese and Craig came
together just before lap one was
complete, Lawrence pounced
into the lead and never looked
back. Despite a late-race charge
by Michael Mosiman, Lawrence
held on and led all 11 laps.
"The first race, when I got
into second, [Craig] already had
a good gap," said Lawrence of
his night. "I was like 'Okay save
it, we're not likely to pull five
or six seconds back in on this
short time.' Then the second
one obviously happened. And
then the last one I was pushing
and sprinting, but it was tough.
Everyone was really similar in
speed, but just did the best I
could, and it worked out to-
night."
With this win, Lawrence cut
Craig's points lead to single
digits at eight.
