second place on the night.
"The track was a little sneaky,"
Anderson said. "Anytime I'd try to
push it I'd feel like I would have
a mistake that would cost me.
I just pushed it enough to be
second."
This podium bounces him
back to third in the points, eight
back from Tomac and two down
from Sexton.
Last week's winner Sexton oc-
cupied the final podium position.
Sexton looked strong all day,
qualifying first in the morning
practice session, and bring-
ing the heat for the night show.
His consistency and calculated
riding style paid off in the main
event as the Honda HRC rider
took advantage of the other
riders' mistakes and eventually
moved into podium territory.
"I put a good effort in," Sexton
said. "I stalled it but only lost about
a second or so. Those guys are
just riding really well, and I've got
to get better for next weekend."
It was another what-could've-
been night for the number-94 of
for it," Anderson said after the
race. "It ended up… not so well. I
don't want to be that guy, but I'm
that guy tonight."
Anderson was the one of the
only riders jumping the tricky triple-

From this point on, the number-21
stayed consistent and captured

49 NATE THRASHER
4TH 250SX WEST
Nate Thrasher looked good all day in
Anaheim, figh ng up front in his heat race
and finishing just off the box in the main.
The crash between Friese and Shimoda
gave him two spots late in the race, earn-
ing his best finish of the season. "I didn't
get the best start in the main event and
had to come from behind," he said. "I just
didn't get around people fast enough and
got a li le ght there at the end. It wasn't
my best ride, but I felt like I had the speed
tonight for a podium and was maybe
even able to fight for a win. It was a tough
race, and I did the best I could, but it's not
where I want to be."
30 JO SHIMODA
7TH 250SX WEST
Jo Shimoda stalked the Friese-Lawrence
ba le for several laps and looked to be a
podium threat. Friese went down in the
whoops and Shimoda had nowhere to go.
The Kawasaki rider clipped Friese's helmet
and also went down in the process. "It
wasn't the greatest night for us, and I am
glad to hear everyone is okay from the
crash," said Shimoda. "I really thought we
would have been able to bring home the
fi h, but all things considered I'm thankful
to take the seventh. We had plenty of
challenges throughout the day."
