ing his bike and handing the lead
over to Craig. Shimoda gathered
himself and got back in the race,
only to crash in the whoops a
few laps later. His spectacu-
lar get-off left him unharmed,
and he quickly got back to the
bike and finished seventh. Two
sevenths to start the series leave
him seventh in the overall stand-
ings.

Michael Mosiman, the home-
town hero, looked fast all after-
noon and secured a heat-race
win early in the night. Mosiman
put his Troy Lee Designs Red
Bull GasGas up front in the main
but went down while running in
third place. This simple tipover
proved costly as the front run-
ners got away and opened too
large of a gap. Mosiman rode it
in for fourth but is now 16 points
back in the points.
Oakland looked like the night
that Jo Shimoda could score a
second career Supercross win.
He holeshotted the 250 main
Seth Hammaker (47)
proved last week's
podium was no fluke.
He did it again in
Oakland.
