consistency beyond his years as
he fights for podium positions.
The number-47 followed his
teammate Jo Shimoda through
the first few laps and moved to
second after Shimoda's mis-
takes. A few bobbles late in the
race allowed Lawrence to reel in
Hammaker and seal the deal for
second.
"[There were] a few mistakes
at the end of the race I was kind
of frustrated at," Hammaker said.
"I think I had second if I would've
gathered myself together at the
late part of that race. I'm happy
to be on the box but I want a little
more out of myself."
Hammaker held it together for
the remainder of the race and
checked out by the time he
secured second.
"If I can get myself around the
first turn in the top three, I think
things will be very interesting,"
Lawrence said. "Oakland wasn't
a bad night; we got second
overall. Still, I'm definitely a bit
frustrated. I had a few more laps
than last weekend to work on
Seth [Hammaker], and we had a
good battle. He was riding really
well in the beginning, so I had to
keep just pushing through. My
start wasn't ideal, so we're going
to be working on that this week."
Seth Hammaker landed on the
podium again this weekend, his
second in two starts. The Pro
Circuit Kawasaki rider is showing
Craig holds onto the red plate
for round three and leads the
series by eight points.
Hunter Lawrence improved by
one spot this weekend, grab-
bing second at the checkers.
Despite a great ride, the Honda
rider did not seem thrilled with a
runner-up spot saying that sec-
ond place finishes aren't good
enough "when you're fighting
for a championship." The race
looked familiar to round one as
Lawrence fought from sixth at
the start and battled with Ham-
maker throughout the race. He
capitalized on others' mistakes,
but it was ultimately a poor start
that limited the number-96's
overall result as Craig already
