County of Riverside OHV
Park Feasibility Study
C
alifornia off-roaders, here is your oppor-
tunity to put some input into a potential
off-highway vehicle park in Riverside County.
According to off-road advocate Paul Slavik,
"This is something that many of us have
been working on for several years, actu-
ally in my case probably
30 years," he said. "Most
of the groundwork has
been done and the County
politics are lined up in our
favor. What we need to do
is get as many people as
possible to send in input on the survey."
According to Analicia Gomez, MPA Senior
Park Planner, RivCoParks continues to make
progress and is excited to share the results
of the Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) Park
Location Feasibility Study which has been
underway for the last two years. During the
study there were three levels of analysis,
starting with 64 sites and utilizing data points and
input from stakeholders (agencies, staff, elected
officials and a steering committee). The 64 were
reduced first to 12 and reduced again to six. The
next step is to collect input on the remaining six
sites in order to narrow the prospective sites likely
down to three. Those in the know, feel that three
sites have best potential: Twin Pines Ranch, Ban-
ning South and Banning North.
RivCoParks would like to get preliminary in-
put from the public on the six sites. Letters have
been sent to the property owners of the privately
owned sites within the last week so that they may
be notified of our efforts and provide additional
input. Please click on the link below for valuable
information on the study, including the opportunity
to provide input on the six sites and other thoughts
you would like to share: RivCoParks
The link will be live now to January 28, 2022,
and feedback from you will provide valuable input
and help to determine which of the six sites should
continue into the future. Please get your input in as
soon as you can as data will be collected on Janu-
ary 28, 2022. Input can take just a few minutes
or longer if you have the time to peruse all of the
information and provide further comments. Feel
free to forward to your friends who are interested in
OHV and Parks in Riverside County. Please note,
only one set of survey results can be submitted per
computer.
A virtual community open house will be held on
January 27, 2022, to collect more input. Lastly, this
is a feasibility study and there are many more steps
remaining in the process, including the formal
environmental review process. Each future step
will have outreach prior to any action being taken
by RivCoParks and the County to develop an OHV
park somewhere in the County of Riverside.
