lim, but a red flag came out on
lap four when Ryan Haddock
crashed in turn four and the medical crew had to get to him.
On the restart it was Puerta
again leading when a shifter
broke on his RoadRace Factory
Yamaha and he was forced to retire.
"We came in and tried to fix
it, but the race for me was over.
I'll come back strong at Laguna,"
Puerta said.
That left Gillim and Wyman battling for the lead the rest of the
way. On the final lap Wyman took
the lead braking off the back
straight going into six, but immediately Gillim attacked back on
his Team 95 Yamaha and stuffed
Wyman in the esses to take it
back. Gillim then managed to
protect his lead to the flag.
For Gillim it marked his first win
of the season and his first since
New Orleans last year.
"These guys were running a really good pace, too," said Gillim,
who won by .184 of a second.
"Travis got out in front. The last
couple of laps, we were going
at it. I wasn't aware that he had
a penalty, so I was racing for the
win. It was a really fun race."
Wyman had originally been assessed a 20-second penalty for
passing on a waving yellow and
was listed in sixth in the provisional results, but after reviewing video and interviewing corner
workers the penalty on Wyman
was dropped and his secondplace finish was reinstated. CN
