A
broken zipper on his leathers nearly kept Steve Rapp
out of the Harley-Davidson
final at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car
Course on Sunday. Fortunately,
his Suburban Harley-Davidson
teammate Brice Cooper had an
extra set of leathers and Rapp
quickly changed right on pit road
and barely made the start.
In spite of missing the warm-up
lap, Rapp was able to get up to
the lead by lap five. Early leader Travis Wyman, on his Harv's
Harley-Davidson entry, fought
back and took back the lead with
three laps to go, but in the end
Rapp was in the right place at the
right time on the final lap and was
able to hold on to score his third
straight victory of the season.

years I've raced," Rapp said of
his wardrobe malfunction. "The

last second. I missed the warmup lap and jumped over the wall
just as they were taking the grid,
but I was able to go from my grid
spot."

happy to come away with two
second-place finishes today. I
got a good start and had the lead
there for a little bit. I thought I
could make a break. I saw I had
about a second [lead] there early
on and I figured it was probably
[Steve] Rapp who was closing
the gap. I came around and saw
plus-0 and within a lap or two he
