Stoner's Big Move
•Repsol Honda's Casey Stoner passed Jorge
Lorenzo on the outside of turn one and pulled away
to victory – his second at the racetrack on the
Monterey Peninsula. The Aussie left Laguna with a
20-point lead in the championship.
•Lorenzo was bruised and battered after a big
highside in turn five during qualifying. He finished
second.

•Ben Spies finished fourth on the second factory
Yamaha.
•Nicky Hayden battled with his Ducati teammate
Valentino Rossi and finished seventh – one spot
better than Tech 3 Yamaha's Colin Edwards. Ben
Bostrom failed to finish in his wild-card ride on the
LCR Honda.
Ben Spies finished fourth on the second
factory Yamaha; Nicky Hayden (69) was
seventh.
Jorge Lorenzo (99) led
Casey Stoner (27) and
the rest early, but Stoner
eventually took over.
