anada- Northern California-Northern Ne' 1983 AMATEUR third was Raymie Beair, ringing up 2-4 finishes for the day. Chapman, ·Klaudt capture Woodland • wins SANCTIONED SANCTIONED CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES By Brian Barnes 10 Race Amateur Series WOODLAND, WA, DEC. 4 Northern Washington riders continued to dominate the Pro classes today at the Woodland Winter Track. Today's race found Jeff Chapman (SUl) and Cory Klaudt (Seattle Hon) bringing home the gold in the 125 and 250cc classes, respectively. In both motos, the 125cc battle was between three riders: Dennis Ostreim (Sunnyside Yamaha-Honda/Yam support), Steve Smith (Mike's Suzuki) and Chapman. Ostreim found himself in the lead after he holeshot the first moto and was untouchable for the remainder of the race. Smith held off Chapman for second and Marvin Waldo (SUl) was fourth. Chapman took command of the second moto wi th a wire-to-wire win. His overall, however, was not secured until the final lap. Ostreim had been running second, but a mistake cost him valuable time and let Smith take over second. Smith then eased on to another second place finish with Ostreim's comeback effort just coming up short. Yamaha-mounted Grayson Hart was fourth. In the 250cc Pro class, Seattle Honda teammates Cory Klaudt and Tom Moen, sporting new bikes, shared the lead in both motos, but it was Klaudt who wound up winning both motos and taking the overall. Moen finished second in both go-arounds, Chapman was third both times. In the 125cc Intermediate class, Mike Kimele took a pair of impressive wins. The first moto saw Kimele (SUl), Ben Williams (Hon), Richie Lee (Yam) and Glenn Hunter (SUl) run in the first four positions all moto long, finishing in that order. Canadian Yamaha-mounted Dan Bullock ventured from the "Great White North" for a fifth. In the second moto, it looked like Lee was determined to hold off Kimele for the win, but three laps into the moto Kimele stormed by and didn't look back, taking an easy win and the overall. Lee was second, Hunter third and Suzuki rider Wes Hanson fourth. Darren Criss (SUl) and Robbie Evans, another Canadian Yamaha rider, traded wins and runners-up in the 125cc Expert class. Evans made his long trip south payoff with his second moto win and the overall. ROUND 1 Seattle Kingdome Atlanta Stadium Daytona Int'l Speedway Houston Astrodome Dallas Cotton Bowl IV-I.
