In Top Fuel action, the double engine Harley-Davidson of Dan Johnson was top qualifier with a 9.03-second run at 172.08 mph. But when it came down to the finals, it was the single engine H-D of Dick Prime against the double Norton of T.C. Christenson. Prime ran into clutch troubles, and Christenson soloed to the win. Walt Foster captured the 250cc Expert laurels in both the short track and a half mile legs of a night flat track event at Corona Raceway.
